Frequently asked questions
Will anything be published without me?
No. Every piece is approved by a person on the Desk. On WordPress it then arrives as a draft and stays a draft until someone presses Publish; anywhere else, you copy or download it and publish it yourself. There is no auto-publish on any plan.
How do you stop it making things up?
Each piece is written from a fact sheet drawn from the source article. A separate check then compares every claim with that fact sheet and with what your own site says. Claims it can't support are narrowed or removed. The source is linked in every piece, and you see the fact sheet and the checks beside the piece when you approve it.
Will it sound like us?
The Desk reads your site's own published writing and proposes a voice: tone, audience, areas, words to use and avoid. You edit and approve it before anything is written for you.
Will it write about things we don't cover?
Not if you use ideas (on by default). The Desk suggests ideas from your feeds, and you approve the ones worth writing before any credits are used. Turn one down and say why, and it learns what to suggest.
Can it write social posts?
Yes. Choose the platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, Google Business Profile) and the Desk writes a separate post for each, to that platform's best practice, from one story, link, brief or article: 1 credit for up to 3 platforms, 2 for more, plus 1 for a new image (posts promoting one of your articles use its image). Posts are only written when you ask: from an approved article ("Write social posts" on its page), a story, a link, a brief or an idea. You approve each post and post it yourself.
Can it write video scripts?
Yes. Choose the platform (TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, Facebook Reels, LinkedIn or long-form YouTube) and a length. Short scripts follow the H.I.D.E. method: hook, intrigue, deliver value, exit with one ask. You get the teleprompter text, a storyboard of shots and a caption. Short scripts cost 2 credits, long form 5.
Can it write for a newsletter or a press release?
Yes. When you write a piece by hand, choose where it will appear: your website, a LinkedIn article, an email newsletter, a press release or another blog. It's written for that format's readers and layout, in your voice.
What if a piece isn't good enough?
Every piece is checked against our own writing standards and its facts. If it falls short, the Desk tells you why and fixes it for free (up to twice). If it passed but you'd like it different, have it rewritten to your instructions, which uses the piece's credits (we say so first), or edit it yourself for free.
Can I edit a piece before it goes out?
Yes, on the Desk. Your edits are kept with the piece, and the Desk learns from them: it suggests voice rules from what you changed, for you to apply or dismiss.
Can I use it from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor?
Yes, through MCP. In Claude or ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the address https://corantr.com/mcp and sign in when asked. For Claude Code, Cursor and others, make a token under Settings → AI assistants. It can find stories, start pieces and fetch approved ones, but it can't approve or publish: a person still does that on the Desk.
Is it AI?
Yes. The Desk uses AI models from Anthropic and OpenAI to read, write and check. That's why every piece is checked against its facts and approved by a person.
Do I need WordPress?
No. With WordPress, approved pieces arrive as drafts through our free plugin. With any other website, or none (a newsletter, social media or print), you copy each approved piece or download it as Word, PDF, Markdown or text.
Do you write in US English?
Yes. Each site is written in UK or US English, with the spelling, idiom and sense of what counts as national news to match. More languages will follow.
How many credits does each piece use?
A news piece 2, an article or guide 4, social posts 1 for up to 3 platforms or 2 for more, a short video script 2 and a long one 5. Each image made adds 1, and you can switch images off. If a piece can't be written, or an image can't be made, the credits come back.
Does it use Google search data?
Yes, if you want it to. Connect Google Search Console on a site's settings (read-only) and the Desk sees which searches bring people to your site, how each published piece does, and which searches you appear for but answer poorly. It also checks rising searches in your subjects every week. Ideas lean towards what people are looking for; facts still come only from the sources or your brief.
Can it learn how we write on social media?
Yes. Under Site settings → Social media, add your profiles and paste a few of your recent posts for each platform. The next scan learns from them, and social posts are written to match how you post there. For YouTube it reads your channel's latest video titles and descriptions itself. Facts still come only from the story or your brief.
Can I copy a site's set-up to another site?
Yes. On the site's page, download a backup: it holds the voice, readers and subjects, what to cover and avoid, ideas and social settings, images and logo, and the news feeds. Restore it on another site (or the same one later). It waits for you to apply it, and the voice is approved again before it's used.
Can a client see and approve only their own site?
Yes. On Team, invite them as an approver (or editor) and choose "Chosen sites", or use "Change sites" for someone already on the team. They see only those sites, and nothing of your account, team or billing. Owners always see every site.
How do I cancel?
An owner presses "Cancel plan" under Plan and billing. You won't be charged again, however close your renewal date is, and everything works until the end of the period you've paid for (or the end of your free trial, with no charge at all). After that nothing more is written, and your pieces stay on the Desk to read and export for 90 days. Changed your mind? Press "Keep my plan" before then.
Are credits shared between my sites?
Yes. Credits belong to your account, not to a site. On Pro or Agency, every site draws on the same monthly credits (and any extra credits you buy), so you can spend more on a busy site and less on a quiet one. Nothing is split equally or reserved per site.
Do ideas cost anything?
No. The Desk suggests ideas from your feeds for free. Credits are only used when an idea is written. You can choose what ideas are for (news, articles, social posts or video scripts) on each site's page.
Can I choose the story myself?
Yes. Pick a story from your feeds, paste a link to any article (a guide can draw on up to three), or write from your own brief. The piece uses only the facts in those sources or your brief, never anything made up.
Can it write about my own news?
Yes: write from a brief. Say what it's about and give the key points, facts, figures and quotes. It's written in your voice using only what you put in the brief and what your site says about itself. You can choose whether to make a header image.
Do I need an AI account or API key?
No. Everything runs on the Desk. The plugin on your site makes no AI calls.
Can I choose the news sources?
Yes. Each site has its own list of news feeds, which you can add to or remove from at any time.
Can I pause it?
Yes. Turn off "Write automatically" for a site, on the Desk or from the plugin in WordPress. Pieces you've already approved still arrive.
Can my team or my clients approve pieces?
Yes. Invite people as owners, editors or approvers. Only owners and approvers can approve.
Who owns what's written?
Pieces written for you are yours to use. The facts come from the sources, which are credited and linked; the Desk writes its own words rather than copying theirs.
Is there a referral scheme?
Yes. Your referral link is under Plan and billing. When a business that signs up through it starts paying after its free trial, you both get 25 extra credits, which carry over month to month.
Is my data safe?
Accounts can use two-factor sign-in, the Desk is hosted in London, and we never sell your data. See our privacy notice for the details.
